Ghost Palms

2019 - 2025
Handmade paper pulp from regenerated young coconuts, initially used as disposable party cups during the 2019 Art on Paper Fair. The shells were collected from trash bins, and over the course of a year, the coconut fibers were broken down into pulp and molded into the shape of coconut palm leaves. The suspended installation hangs from plastic netting with monofilament and is lit from below to recreate the lost trunk of a coconut palm tree, while its leaves gently blow away in the breeze.
