Nature in Absentia: Summer Paper Making Workshops

Making Milkweed Paper at ArtCrawl Harlem
Saturday, July 27 at ArtCrawl Harlem House located at
403 Colonels Way on Governors Island

In connection with my site-specific installation “Monarch Migrations” in the spacious stairwell of ArtCrawl Harlem House, I will demonstrate and teach visiting participants how to make paper from locally sourced NYC Milkweed plants, saved from the mower’s blades. This hands-on program will introduce participants to the basics of making sheets of paper from naturally foraged materials. The focus is on providing a creative platform for Governors Island visitors to learn more about my long-term installation, as well as the natural environment being managed by the Governors Island Nature Program.
