Handmade Paper Drawings

Michele Brody’s work feels inevitable, as though the papers she has created from nature’s detritus, from day lilies, coconuts and other plant fibers, were created through some deep process by which she becomes a conduit reconnecting these materials from their sources to something greater- as if we are in the presence of a natural event. Like bees who transform pollen into honey, her paper constructions transcend self-expression and are akin to the autonomy of nature.
